Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford. Two attacking players well on their way away from Manchester United. Still, just days before the transfer window closes, nothing is in place. This means that United are once again back to emergency signing on Deadline Day – if the two players leave the club in the next few days.

Every single January transfer window, Manchester United have forced themselves into panic signings, often only on Deadline Day. If it happens exceptionally, it is completely normal for a club of United’s size, but to the frustration of the supporters – and coaches – it happens over and over again.

Last winter, Wout Weghorst was brought in in mid-January, even Erik ten Hag cannot call this a success. Manchester United are now in the race to sign Bayern Munich talent Mathys Tel. In the last week, it has become clear that the left winger wants to leave Vincent Kompany’s bench. According to transfer journalist Florian Plettenberg, Manchester United have thrown themselves into the race in recent days to bring the 19-year-old to Old Trafford.

This, of course, depends on whether Garnacho and Rashford make it to the exit before the market closes. Signing Mathys Tel can be a big opportunity that needs to be taken advantage of, but we don’t like the frame and pressure on time. Then it quickly ends up with another overpriced investment for United.
