Manchester United are without a sporting director. This comes about a month after Ruben Amorim chose to let himself be pressured into interrupting the season as Sporting coach, as he himself wanted, and throw himself into the “red devil’s cauldron” at Old Trafford already in November. Now Amorim is speaking out for the first time after sporting director Dan Ashworth cleared his desk on Sunday.

“The first thing I want to say, since the first day, I’ve felt a lot of support from the ownership from Omar [Berrada], from them as well, from Jason [Wilcox] and Dan was a part of it,” Amorim begins, according to Goal.

“I felt really, really, really [good] support from Dan, but this is football and sometimes this happens. It happens to players and to coaches. I know it’s not the best situation, but the important thing is that we continue our way. The road is really clear for everyone, and I think this can happen in football,” the United manager continues.

Before he puts it all in perspective.

-Since day one, I have felt the support of everyone – a person who leaves does not change anything. Of course, it’s a bad situation. As I said, we are talking about a human being, a professional, who supports us as a team, but I think the most important thing is that the vision is really clear and it does not change if one person leaves, concludes Amorim.

The club and its vision are bigger than individuals.

Then that topic is parked.
