Inter Milan have entered the race for Chelsea outcast Christopher Nkunku after a failed search for Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund.

Inter undergoes major transformation

The Italian league giants are in the middle of a summer of massive renewal. Success manager Simone Inzaghi has left for Al-Hilal, midfielder Hakan Çalhanoğlu wants to leave, and the squad is filled with aging stars.

One area where Inter is not short of options is attack, but even so, the Nerazzurri are surprisingly determined to strengthen this section during the summer.

Despite already having Lautaro Martínez, Marcus Thuram and promising youngster Francesco Pio Esposito, Inter have signed Ange-Yoan Bonny from Parma for a whopping €23 million – and they are not done yet.

Inter have kept in touch with Manchester United’s disappointment Rasmus Hojlund alive in recent weeks, but their chances of signing the Dane have diminished. Not only is Hojlund eager to fight for his place at Old Trafford, but Inter also prefer an initial loan, while United want a permanent transfer.

Inter interested in Nkunku

With a Hojlund deal now looking unlikely, Inter have identified a new target, according to Sky Sports. It is claimed that Chelsea outcast Christopher Nkunku has caught the interest of the Champions League finalists.

The Frenchman is eager to leave Chelsea after failing to secure a permanent place in the Premier League, and Nkunku was desperate for a move to Bayern Munich in January. The deal eventually fell through, but the Bavarian giants remain interested.

Inter have now also entered the race for the 27-year-old, but it is believed that a transfer could be dependent on them first getting rid of Mehdi Taremi. The likelihood of a deal will also largely depend on Chelsea’s sale price.

The Blues demanded 70 million euros for Nkunku in January, which his suitors considered unreasonable. The versatile striker could be available for a little less this summer, but a permanent signing would still require a significant outlay.
