Manchester United are struggling to send redundant players on loan. Simply because no club in the UEFA region is willing to cover their wages. This says a lot about United’s failed investments. Casemiro charges the wage budget with £350,000 a week, Marcus Rashford with £325,000 a week, Antony with £105,000 a week. Three players who cost the club almost 800,000 every single week – without delivering at the match arena. Now this unsustainable expense can be cut by around £90,000 a week.
Antony got on the plane to Sevilla on Friday to sign a contract with Manuel Pellegrini’s Real Betis, Manchester United have a “tradition” of having to cover large parts of the salary expenses for the United player, but this time the club has succeeded in negotiating a deal that the club actually saves something on.
The Athletic reports Betis will not pay rent to Antony for the rest of the season, but will cover 84% of the Brazilian’s weekly contractual salary plus any performance-related bonuses.
£800,000 “out the window” a week for Manchester United is now down to around £710,000. At least that’s a start.
