Manchester United are strongly considering hiring Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola as their next manager, according to iNews.

The Red Devils sacked Ruben Amorim in January after 14 poor months at the helm at Old Trafford, with interim boss Michael Carrick replacing him and leading the team to third place in the Premier League, having won five of his seven games in charge, including against Manchester City, Arsenal and Everton.

But INEOS has so far refused to commit to giving him the job permanently as it wants to fully consider all its options before making a final decision and it has now emerged that Iraola is a target.

Manchester United aim for Andoni Iraola, but know they have to be quick

Iraola, who has been described as a “genius”, has seen his reputation soared to a new level since taking over the Cherries, with the team battling to qualify for Europe for the first time in their history, despite losing five key players in the last two transfer windows.

The Spaniard’s attacking style of play has garnered a lot of praise and it has attracted the attention of decision-makers at Old Trafford, as they want to ensure they don’t make another wrong decision on the managerial side.

Iraola’s contract at the Vitality Stadium expires this summer, and he is known to be someone who carefully considers his options for the next career step. It is understood that he would never have left the club in the middle of his contract, regardless of what offers may have come his way.

But now that Crystal Palace, Tottenham, Man Utd and clubs in Italy and Spain are reportedly showing interest in his services, he is ready to listen to all his options, including potentially staying at Bournemouth.

Bournemouth are planning new deal talks this month

Bournemouth have previously paused talks over a new deal as they wanted to ensure there were no distractions on the pitch. However, with the international break in March now almost upon us, the Cherries will have a three-week break from matches, and it is seen as the perfect time to resume dialogue.

The outcome of these talks could be crucial to the situation, as time is running out, and Man Utd will most likely keep a close eye on the situation before making a big decision in the summer.
