There are plenty of people talking about a spectacular return for Spanish goalkeeper David de Gea to Old Trafford. – The worse Manchester United’s first goalkeeper Andre Onana does and the better David de Gea does in Serie A, the louder the shouts become.
The rumour now is that the shouts have prompted the people of part-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe to put their first goalkeeper for a decade on their lists of Onana replacements.

Fiorentina president Rocco Commisso does not like that, who has confirmed that goalkeeper David de Gea will remain at the Italian Serie A club after this season – while also joking about Manchester United’s decision to part ways with the Spaniard.
United chose to say goodbye to De Gea in the summer of 2023, when then-manager Erik ten Hag brought in his former Ajax goalkeeper André Onana. Nemanja Matic, De Gea’s former teammate, recently called United’s current goalkeeper “one of the worst in Man Utd history”.
The frustration with Onana’s performance has led to rumours of a summer return for De Gea to United, where the club are reportedly considering bringing the 34-year-old back to Old Trafford.
However, Fiorentina have an option to extend De Gea’s contract, and President Commisso now suggests that this has already been exercised.

“I saw a fantastic De Gea – he’s a champion”
“I saw a great De Gea, he’s a champion and it shows,” he told RAI after the Conference League win over NK Celje. “They sent him away, and we took him.”
“He stays with us. He is still young enough to spend several years here.”
The goalkeeper position is expected to be a concern for United and new manager Rúben Amorim this summer. Both Onana’s long-term future and reserve goalkeeper Altay Bayindir’s dissatisfaction with playing time are uncertain factors, while third-choice Tom Heaton could leave when his contract expires.
Brighton’s Bart Verbruggen has been linked with the club, while the likes of Lille’s Lucas Chevalier, Espanyol’s Joan García and Royal Antwerp’s Senne Lammens are also mentioned as possible goalkeeper targets.
