Manchester United give green light to Cunha OG Delap deals – but there’s one big concern

Manchester United are hoping to finalise the transfers of Matheus Cunha and Liam Delap quickly, with the aim of making an early deal in the summer transfer window. Still, significant challenges await both players, especially Delaps’ attitude towards a transfer, which could lead to frustration with United’s management.

Money in place – negotiations are pending

According to reports, funds are ready to sign both players, despite previous concerns that United would have to sell to fund major transfers.

United are ready to match the buyout clauses of both Wolves winger Cunha €65 million and Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap €30 million, with the latter’s relegation triggering a clause in his contract.

Journalist Ben Jacobs reports:
“No deal in place between Manchester United and Cunha yet. The Brazilian wants the transfer, and United are optimistic. But financial details have not been discussed. An important meeting is expected next week.”

“United are trying to get Cunha and Delap ready early, and have funds for both – with no sale necessary.”

Cunha eager – Delap hesitant

While Cunha reportedly “loves” United and wants the transfer, the situation is more uncertain with Delap.

According to GiveMeSport, the former Manchester City academy player will take his time before deciding on his next club, despite United wanting clear deals before the end of the season.

Chelsea are said to be “calmly confident” that they are leading the race for Delap, thanks to manager Enzo Maresca’s previous partnership with him at City.
