Italian star goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma played a key role in PSG’s treble-winning season, keeping 12 clean sheets in 40 games across all competitions – including six clean sheets in the club’s successful Champions League season.

Although the Italian is an important piece in Luis Enrique’s team, it is uncertain whether he will be at the Parc des Princes next season as well.

Donnarumma is entering the final 12 months of his PSG contract and is yet to reach a new deal with the French champions. The goalkeeper has privately spoken about a potential Premier League transfer, in light of Manchester United’s interest.

PSG want to keep Donnarumma, but may have to consider offers this summer if contract negotiations do not progress. The French giants certainly want to avoid losing their first goalkeeper on a free transfer next summer.

According to La Repubblica, Manchester United have been boosted by PSG’s affordable price.

The club could let the Italy international leave for as little as €40 million this summer – a tempting sum for a world-class goalkeeper.

But United must be aware that they could face competition from city rivals Manchester City in the race for Donnarumma’s signature.

Manchester United currently have André Onana and Altay Bayindir as their two main options in the goalkeeper position, as well as being in the process of extending their contract with third-choice Tom Heaton.

But the Red Devils are reportedly open to selling Onana after the first goalkeeper made several high-profile mistakes in the 2024/25 season.

The Cameroonian international still has three years left on his contract, but he is still being linked with a possible move to the Saudi Professional League.

Bayindir, meanwhile, has not convinced when he has been given playing time and may also consider an exit to secure more playing time.
