Manchester United have reportedly identified Eberechi Eze and Antoine Semenyo as alternative targets to Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo.

The Red Devils scored just 44 goals in the Premier League last season – the fifth-worst record of any team – and they will need to address the weaknesses of their attacking line if they are to improve next season.

Manager Ruben Amorim has already been given a boost with the arrival of Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers, and they are also aiming for Brentford striker Mbeumo. However, Brentford manager Thomas Frank has been appointed Spurs manager and he wants to bring his star player with him. Tottenham are said to be willing to match Brentford’s sale price, something Manchester United have so far not been willing to do.

ESPN reports that if United miss out on the striker, Crystal Palace’s Eze and Bournemouth’s Semenyo could become alternative options.

Eze
Eze had an outstanding season with Palace, scoring the only goal in the FA Cup final against Manchester City in May and leading the Londoners to the Europa League.

The 26-year-old scored eight goals and provided eight assists for the Eagles in the Premier League last season, his best statistic in his five seasons in the top flight.

Eze’s performance under Oliver Glasner is even more impressive when you consider that he had to take over the offensive responsibilities from Michael Olise, who was sold to Bayern Munich in the summer of 2024.

Semenyo
Bournemouth finished the 2024/25 season in ninth place in the Premier League with 56 points, their best finish ever and highest score in the club’s history in the league.

Semenyo was arguably the club’s best player, with the second most goals (11) and shared the second most assists (five) of all Bournemouth players.

The winger is comfortable on both sides and his positional versatility along with intensity both on and off the ball would make him an asset for United.
