The need for the Red Devils to go out on the market was underlined by Sunday’s goalkeeping blunder. Altay Bayindir started the season as the first goalkeeper, because Onana had just recovered from the hamstring injury that ruled him out of the preseason. 13 minutes into the game, Bayindir was standing with his head in his hands, after his attempt to knock the ball out on a corner kick led to Riccardo Calafiori heading into the goal on the goal line. After the game, Amorim defended the goalkeeper, but we are all left with the feeling that the duo of Onana and Bayindir cannot give Manchester United continuity in their goalkeeping deliveries at the top level throughout the season.
Something must be done here during the next few weeks with the transfer market.
