There were big smiles inside Old Trafford when Manchester United secured Patrick Dorgu. Several Premier League clubs wanted the Danish international, Man United pushed 30 million euros over the table and gave the 20-year-old a five-year contract. The supporters perhaps did not share the same enthusiasm, deep down in a sporting mud a 20-year-old did not seem to fit in at left-back, what was supposed to save the season.
Dorgu was thrown straight into the match arena and already has 6 games until the international break, but there should be two more. A direct red card against Ipswich sent the Dane into quarantine. Just a little youthful flashover?

After Denmark’s last quarter-final in the Nations League, we sense a pattern.
Dorgu went in the back of Ronaldo for an awkward penalty, giving Portugal wind in their sails for the humiliating 5-2 victory. After the game, it was a handsome Dorgu who answered questions about the penalty.
“Ronaldo was smart and knew how to get a penalty. I didn’t feel like I was holding him for very long, and I feel like the contact was greater in other situations in the game. I have to learn from it and move on,” Dorgu says according to Bold.

But does the 20-year-old Dorgu really have the ability to learn quickly, or does the left-back have a style of play, recklessness and mentality that will result in more unnecessary penalties or red cards.
Dorgu also caused an unnecessary penalty against Switzerland, earlier in the Natons League tournament. The Dane received a red card earlier in the season for Leece, one minute after half-time against Cagliari in Serie A.

If the coaching staff at Manchester United does not work quickly to coach the 20-year-old correctly, there could be some costly blunders from Dorgu in the next two months. Amorim cannot afford that.
