Manchester United did not sign any players during the winter transfer window, quite naturally after a hefty spending in the summer. (Reportedly £170 million in the summer of 2025)

According to reports, Manchester United have promised to triple a player’s salary in a bid to lure him to Old Trafford, as they face strong competition from a Champions League club.

Since Michael Carrick replaced Ruben Amorim as Manchester United’s manager in early January, the mood around the club has risen. The team has won three – against Manchester City, Arsenal and Fulham – and drawn one – against West Ham United – of their four Premier League games. – It has lifted Manchester United to 4th place in the Premier League.

This summer’s signings, Senne Lammens, Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, have all made a crucial contribution since joining United, where the two strikers have combined for 16 goals.

Despite United’s rise in form, with the Red Devils currently in fourth place in the Premier League with 12 games remaining, the future remains uncertain. Michael Carrick has a contract until the end of the current season.

As a consequence, transfers could be affected by the decision on Carrick’s future, while the arrival of a different manager could cause the recruitment strategy to take a different direction. One man who has long and increasingly been rumored to the Premier League is Borussia Dortmund’s right-back Julian Ryerson.

The 28-year-old, who is a Norwegian international, is a right-back by training, but can also play further forward on the pitch, as he has done for the Bundesliga club this season.

The Scandinavian has recorded 13 assists in 29 appearances so far this season, playing as a right wing-back under Niko Kovac. – The last three as late as Friday at home at SIGNAL IDUNA PARK against Mainz.

Ryerson has a contract with Dortmund until June 2028 and is considered by the German club to be worth £30-35 million, according to TeamTalk.

The Dortmund player currently earns reportedly £83,000 a week, according to Capology. A salary that Manchester United and probably also Newcastle are willing to triple.

If Ryerson were to join United, he would be competing with Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui for a place in the starting eleven.
