According to reports, the player has asked to leave Premier League club Manchester United in January, which creates a big dilemma.
A Manchester United star who has fallen out of favour is reportedly trying to force through a January transfer, according to sources. But manager Ruben Amorim wants him to stay, to avoid a possible problem.

Amorim may be forced to thwart exit
Despite a difficult start to the 2025/26 season, things have turned around for Amorim’s Manchester United team. The “Red Devils” are currently on a three-game winning streak, having defeated Sunderland, Liverpool and Brighton in recent weeks.
This summer’s new players, Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, are starting to find their form, and goalkeeper Senne Lammens has proven solid between the sticks since joining from Royal Antwerp for £18.1m on the day of the transfer death.
Meanwhile, Benjamin Šeško, who was bought from RB Leipzig for a transfer fee that could reach £74 million, has shown signs of his potential, having not quite found his form in his nine Premier League appearances for United.
A number of players left United on loan or permanent transfers in the summer, with Rasmus Hojlund, Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Antony all leaving the club.
Puts hard against hard! – Wants to go to the World Cup.
As always, movement is expected in the United squad in the January transfer window. The Mirror reports that striker Joshua Zirkzee wants to leave the club on loan this winter, after only playing four games this season.
It is claimed that he prefers to stay in the Premier League, but that he does not rule out a stay abroad. He wants to play regularly in the hope of securing a place in the Netherlands’ squad for the World Cup next summer.
However, according to a report from The Sun, Zirkzee may be barred from leaving.
The report reported: “Manchester United are prepared to block requests from their players to leave the club in the January transfer window due to an expected shortage of players.”
The reason is the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which will be held between December 21 and January 18.
Amad, Noussair Mazraoui, and Mbeumo are likely to be selected for Côte d’Ivoire, Morocco, and Cameroon, respectively. This means that Amorim could be left without enough attacking options for up to four weeks, depending on how the countries do in the tournament.
Earlier this week, Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that Serie A giants AS Roma were interested in bringing Zirkzee to Italy, but any deal could be blocked by Amorim.
West Ham have also been loosely linked with the Dutchman, but David Ornstein claimed that a move to “The Hammers” was unlikely.
United return to the Premier League on Saturday with a game against Nottingham Forest.
