Manchester United are in the process of securing Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Matheus Cunha, who could be their first signing in the upcoming transfer window.

The 25-year-old Brazilian has a buyout clause of £62.5 million in his contract, which Manchester United are willing to trigger.

The negotiations between the club and Cunha’s representatives are described as positive, personal terms now under discussion.

To finance the transfer, however, United may have to sell more players.

Four players can disappear

According to The Mirror, United are considering selling Marcus Rashford, Antony, Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia this summer.

  • Marcus Rashford is currently on loan at Aston Villa, who have an option to buy – but it is unclear if they will exercise it.
  • Jadon Sancho is on loan to Chelsea, who have activated their option, but the Blues can still withdraw by paying a fine.
  • Antony has impressed for Real Betis in La Liga, and there is reason to believe he can continue his career there. Finally, he has found his form after several years and is starting to look like the player United bought from Ajax.
  • Defender Tyrell Malacia, who is currently at PSV Eindhoven, has no future under Ruben Amorim at United.

Liquidating these players will help United both financially and finance the Cunha transfer.

The Wolves striker will be able to solve many of the creative and goal-scoring challenges United face.

In addition to the aforementioned players, Casemiro could also leave if the club receives a suitable offer for the experienced midfielder.
