When Alan Shearer was asked about the rumour in the spring of 2023, that Harry Kane was on his way away from the Premier League to Bayern Munich, the Premier League history’s highest scoring player replied that “then he would drive Kane himself to the airport…” For Kane, with his 213 Premier League goals, was the closest to catching up with Shearer’s 260. In recent weeks, rumors have emerged that will give Shearer something to think about.
When Harry Kane confirmed he would be leaving the Premier League, Shearer stated that he believed that if Kane returned to the Premier League after a few seasons, he was capable of still breaking the record.

Former chief scout at Manchester United, Mick Brown, has picked up signals that Kane is looking towards the Premier League – and Manchester United towards Kane.
-He has his heart set on breaking Alan Shearer’s record. Getting back to the Premier League is the first step towards doing that, so I think he’ll be looking at his options in the summer,” Brown told Football-Insider.
“He would start for any of England’s top clubs, but can they afford his asking price and salary? There has been so much talk about it, and from what I hear, he wants to come back to England. Man United are in for him, he has been a long-term target there, but can they afford it? The other option is Liverpool. They are more financially stable and the manager wants to strengthen his attacking options this summer with a new centre-forward,” Brown continues.

There is no doubt the two arch-rivals are ready to fight for Kane.
“There are not many better out there than Harry Kane, so I have no doubt that they are interested. I think they (Manchester United and Liverpool) would be at the front, if he became available,” concludes United’s former chief scout.
