Manchester United have confirmed that Victor Lindelöf, Jonny Evans and Christian Eriksen will leave the club at the end of the season. June 30 marks the official end of each season, a time when the contracts of almost all players in Europe expire.

    And then, on Monday, a number of Manchester United players were released as the 2024/25 season came to an end.

    Christian Eriksen is the biggest star who can now go for free to a new club

    The 33-year-old Danish legend joined United from Brentford in the summer of 2022 and spent three seasons at the club, winning both the FA Cup and League Cup.

    Victor Lindelöf leaves the club after eight years

    The defender, 30 years old from Sweden, has had limited playing time in recent seasons and is now leaving the club after almost 300 games and the same trophies as Eriksen.

    The 37-year-old Northern Irishman chose to retire when his contract expired. Evans was in his second spell at United, having returned as an emergency solution in 2023. In total, he played 241 games for the club and won a number of major titles.

    Jonny Evans is not leaving Old Trafford, but is stepping into a new role. On the same day he hung up his boots, he was appointed head of loans and loan at Manchester United.

    Lesser-known players also on their way out

    The other players who were released are lesser-known names:

    • Sam Murray
    • Tom Myles
    • James Nolan
    • Tom Wooster

    Tom Heaton extended his contract

    The third choice in goal, Tom Heaton, was expected to be released, but ended up signing a one-year extension.

    The club is now undergoing a major rebuild after its worst season in over 50 years – with 15th place in the Premier League and no trophies.
