Manchester United have an advantage over their fiercest rivals in the Premier League, they are out in tournaments and cups both out in Europe and at home in England and thus have a relatively lax schedule. – This, together with the fact that interim manager Michael Carrick has managed to lift the mood at Old Trafford, means that Manchester United, in all likelihood, will not be out of action in Europe next season.

Playing in Europe, and preferably the Champions League is a prerequisite for most stars that Manchester United are in contact with, so also Newcastle captain Bruno Guimaraes who incidentally had a really bad Wednesday.

Despite Wednesday, Bruno Guimarães has played his way to the status of one of the most influential players at Newcastle and in the Premier League, the combination of technical quality and relentless work effort has made him the very heart of Eddie Howe’s midfield. Now the United management intends to “rip this heart out” and place it at Old Trafford.

On Wednesday evening, the quarter-final setup in the UEFA Champions League was finalized.

Liverpool crushed Galatasaray 4-0 and progressed to the next round along with Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona, who beat Atalanta, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United, respectively. – Salah is finally back!

After Newcastle’s 7-2 defeat to Barcelona at the Camp Nou, captain Bruno Guimaraes has been rumoured away.

According to Reuters, United are in talks to sign Guimaraes, who has delivered crucial performances for the “Skerries”. It is claimed that the transfer fee is around 80 million euros.

However, the transfer could be complicated by renewed interest from La Liga giants Real Madrid.

It has been suggested that Madrid’s interest in Guimaraes has been long-lasting, all the way back to when Carlo Ancelotti was in charge. The Italian reportedly suggested the Brazilian as “heir to Luka Modric and Toni Kroos”.

The report stated that United are looking at Guimaraes as a replacement for Casemiro, who has already confirmed that he will leave Old Trafford at the end of the 25/26 season.

It is believed that Casemiro has urged United to sign Guimaraes because of his experience and leadership.

So far in the 25/26 season, the 28-year-old has recorded nine goals and seven assists in 35 appearances across all competitions.

Guimaraes was absent from Newcastle’s squad as they crashed out of the Champions League after losing 8-3 on aggregate to Barcelona.

After the game, Newcastle boss Howe said: “Our defence today was not at a level as it was just a few days ago against Chelsea. It started with the first goal when two players slipped and we conceded from a set piece.”

“Then the big moment is the penalty. We should have gone to the break with 2-2 and a good feeling. We are very much in the game, and everything is possible from that moment. As it is, we go to the break with a negative feeling. I don’t think we defended the build-up well enough.”

Newcastle are back in Premier League action this weekend when they face rivals Sunderland at St. James’ Park on Sunday afternoon.

Newcastle have doubts about their Brazilian captain, but Guimaraes has already announced he is done at the club at the end of the season. A price tag of around £70 million has been set, but this has clearly not deterred the United management, who seem to be able to budget for a Champions League ticket next season.
