He had been injured more or less since his signing in 2022. Feynoord full-back Tyrell Malacia was on Ten Hag’s wish list, but the Dutchman only got to use Malacia for about forty games. In November, the left-back would finally return from injury, this time with Ruben Amorim at the helm. The Portuguese probably thought he would give the 25-year-old a slow start against an opponent like Bødø/Glimt. Talk about a plan that went down the drain!

Malacia was given the opportunity from the start for the first time since May 2023, after 45 minutes Amorim took the left-back off the pitch, simply to spare the Dutchman from more humiliations. The Bodø/Glimt players played their way past Malacia, after 23 minutes Philip Zinckernagel parked Malacia with the greatest ease and sent Glimt into the lead.

It ended with a narrow victory for Manchester United, but guaranteed a game Malacia will do everything to forget.

At the same time, it was a display that showed Amorim he does not have a full-fledged alternative at left-back in Malacia. Now the Dutchman is sent on loan to get crucial playing time to approach the pace required in the world’s toughest league – or against Bodø/Glimt.

According to Voetbal Internationa,Tyrell Malacia has “reached an agreement” to leave the club on loan until the end of the season.

The Dutch media reports Malacia’s next club is still not ready, but journalist Joost Blaauwhof claims “sources close to the player” have confirmed that he will leave United in the January transfer window. Malacia (25) joined United from Feyenoord for £13 million in the summer of 2022.

We must hope the club that wants to sign Malacia has not received the football execution from Kjetil Knutsen’s and the Bodø/Glimt gang.
