Manchester United have contacted Eintracht Frankfurt to show their interest in Hugo Ekitike.

The 22-year-old had an outstanding 2024/25 season for Frankfurt, with 22 goals and 12 assists in 48 games, and there has been a lot of speculation about his future in recent months.

Several big European clubs are said to be interested in Ekitike, and according to Sky Deutschland, Manchester United are among them. The report claims that the 20-time English champions (starting to be a while ago) are exploring the terms of a transfer, where they want to find out how much money will be required to sign him.

Frankfurt are set to ask for around £85 million for Ekitike, who has four years left on his contract – putting the Bundesliga club in a strong negotiating position.

United’s contact on Ekitike deal
The striker started his professional career at Reims before moving to Paris Saint-Germain, initially on loan, but he failed to show his true potential for the capital club.

Ekitike scored just four goals and had four assists in 33 appearances for PSG, but he has flourished since his move to Frankfurt with 26 goals and 14 assists in 64 appearances.

The Frenchman definitely fits into Manchester United’s transfer policy, with the club targeting the best young talent in the world, but it remains to be seen if a deal can be done. Frankfurt are under no pressure to sell, and it is hard to imagine Ruben Amorim’s side accepting less than £85 million.

What is the latest news about Gyökeres?
Sporting Lisbon’s president has insisted that Viktor Gyökeres will not be sold cheaply this summer.

Manchester United have a strong interest in the Swedish international, but Arsenal are also linked with him, and a transfer will not be easy to complete.

Reports from Portugal on Thursday night suggest that Arsenal have made a bid for Gyökeres, probably around £51 million plus bonuses. However, this is not expected to be enough to secure the signing, and it remains to be seen whether Manchester United will make their own bid – especially since they now seem to be turning their attention to Ekitike.
