United are ready for big moves in the summer transfer window – if they qualify for the Champions League. Something that actually happens seems to happen. Because English clubs are doing well in the tournament, the top five in the Premier League are likely to qualify.

Later today, Sunday, there will be another fight for important points at Old Trafford. Then Manchester United will welcome Crystal Palace, who are still led by Oliver Glasner, one of the top candidates to take over the manager’s chair ahead of next season.

Manchester United are set to aim for a £100m signing this summer – as well as a new and wholehearted attempt to sign Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson.

United have had an interest in Anderson, who has established himself as an important player for England under national team boss Thomas Tuchel this season, since the summer.

Ex-manager Rúben Amorim ultimately opted to prioritize offensive reinforcements this summer, along with the signing of goalkeeper Senne Lammens on the last day of the transfer window. (The Belgian goalkeeper is considered one of the best signings this season)

A midfield upgrade is apparently planned for the upcoming window – although the exact schedule for any signings may have changed now that Amorim has been sacked.

The Daily Mail reported on Wednesday that United, in addition to Anderson, were planning to strike at Forest if they were to be relegated to the Championship, securing a transfer for the midfielder’s teammate Morgan Gibbs-White.

If Forest stay under new manager Vítor Pereira – their fourth manager this season – such a move will naturally be significantly more difficult to implement.

Football Transfers now reports that United have set their sights on Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Rogers.

The 23-year-old, who is one of Villa’s key players, is likely to charge a fee close to or above the British record of £100 million that Manchester City paid to sign Jack Grealish from Villa in 2021.

It is claimed that Rogers and his family have had discussions about a potential change of agency, with CAA Base mentioned in the report. CAA Base currently represents a number of high-profile Premier League players, including Cole Palmer, Eberechi Eze, James Maddison and Richarlison. They also deal with Bayer Leverkusen defender Jarell Quansah – formerly of Liverpool – as well as former Tottenham and current LAFC star Son Heung-min. Current Manchester United players associated with them are Patrick Dorgu and Toby Collyer.

A key factor in Rogers’ final decision on a transfer could be whether Aston Villa qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Unai Emery’s side are currently third in the Premier League table, but have won just three of their last 10 games. They will fall below United, who are three points behind, if the Red Devils secure victory over Crystal Palace at Old Trafford on Sunday.
