There are fresh beats coming from Old Trafford as they “propose” spectacular swap deal to sign Carlos Baleba.

Manchester United could propose a player-plus-money deal to sign Carlos Baleba, after Brighton have put a staggering price on their star player.

Manchester United have spent large sums of money this summer on signing Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Šeško.

Cunha cost £62.5 million after they triggered the buyout clause in his deal, while Mbeumo went for a sum of up to £71 million. And Šeško, who is the club’s newest signing, moved to Old Trafford from RB Leipzig for £73.7 million.

Manager Rúben Amorim is eager for more signings before the new season and seems to be aiming for a new midfielder. Amorim likes Brighton’s Baleba, who has impressed in the Premier League since his move from Lille in the summer of 2023.

Manchester United are “actively trying to get a deal” for Baleba this summer, while Amorim is pushing for a “midfielder to accelerate his rebuild”.

According to The Independent, Brighton want around £120 million for Baleba, who thrilled Manchester United fans with his social media activity during the friendly against Fiorentina last week.

But Manchester United’s management is reluctant to meet Brighton’s desired price and is now considering how to structure a payment package.

According to the report, one possibility is to offer an initial amount of £80 million, with the rest in bonus schemes.

Manchester United are also open to sending a player like Jadon Sancho as part of a deal for the 21-year-old, although it is considered unlikely that Brighton would accept such an offer.

Sancho is considered redundant at Manchester United and continues to be linked with a transfer, having spent last season on loan at Chelsea.

What other midfield options is Manchester United considering?

Manchester United are working behind the scenes to sign Baleba in this window, and they will continue their hunt next year if they don’t get him this summer.

The Cameroonian player is not the only midfielder Amorim and Manchester United like, as Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton is considered the club’s preferred option.
