Manchester United are getting their hands full and are competing with Manchester City and Arsenal for Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali, while former Chelsea striker Joao Felix is ready to head to Old Trafford in the summer transfer window.

After a shaky start with a ban, Sandro Tonali has established himself as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League, no wonder Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal are among several who want the Italian international.

It wasn’t that long ago that there were rumours that a transfer was between Manchester United and Manchester City. – But it will not be fewer, nor will it be easier. Newcastle are “increasingly concerned and frustrated” that Tonali’s support staff are “pushing” for a move away from St. James’ Park in the summer. Which will be good for the economy, but bad for the chances of games in Europe. (Something they probably won’t achieve this season)

TalkSport reports that Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal are among the clubs that have been “talked” this month about a deal for the Italian midfielder. Also reported on Inter Milan and Juventus’ interest in, but probably not finances to secure a transfer for the 25-year-old.

Sandro Tonali race breaks out in Premier League
Although Newcastle do not actively want to sell the former AC Milan midfielder, they are demanding a solid €116 million for Tonali.

TuttoJuve have claimed that there is an “all-out war going on in the Premier League over Tonali”, with Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal involved. (A use of words that one should rise above these days)

The Juventus-centric Italian website writes: “The race for Tonali is being led by three Premier League giants: Manchester City, Manchester United and Arsenal.

“All three are looking for a midfielder who can make a difference, and see Tonali as the perfect reinforcement to raise the team’s level.

“Arsenal already tried to bring him to London during the winter transfer window, but Newcastle rejected all negotiations during the season.

“In the summer, however, the situation may change.

“Despite Newcastle’s position, the player’s own desire can play a key role.

“Tonali can be tempted by a step up to a team with even greater ambitions, both nationally and in Europe.

“The battle for Sandro Tonali has already begun and promises to be one of the hottest this summer.”

Joao Felix linked to Manchester United
A speculative Spanish report has claimed that Manchester United are aiming to sign former Chelsea striker Joao Felix in the summer transfer window.

Felix, who can play as an attacking midfielder or as a striker, joined Saudi Arabian Pro League club Al-Nassr from Chelsea in the summer of 2025.

The 26-year-old Portuguese international has scored 21 goals and provided 15 assists in 37 appearances in all competitions for Al-Nassr this season.

The Spanish report describes Felix’s record at Al-Nassr as “simply smashing”, claiming that both Manchester United and the striker are interested in a deal in the summer of 2026.

The report stated: “Manchester United have identified the need to bring in a player with a distinctive profile who can connect the midfield with the attacking third.

“After several seasons of varying performances, the club’s project requires players who have already shown maturity and leadership skills at critical moments.

“The versatility offered by the Portuguese player will allow the coaching staff to explore different tactical systems, adding an attacking flow that is currently lacking in Manchester.

“Negotiations could intensify in the coming weeks, as the English club are looking to finalise their most important signings before the pre-season starts.

“The interest is mutual, as the player is eager to lead the attack for one of the most merited clubs in world football.

“The deal is progressing slowly but with the determination of someone who knows this market opportunity is unlikely to present itself again.”
