Not much in the way of negotiations really because Manchester United agreed to trigger the €74 million buyout clause in Cunha’s contract with Wolves. They have agreed to pay an add-on of 6 million euros in bonuses.

Liam Delap on his way to Manchester United
Sky Sports UK’s Kaveh Solhekol has also confirmed that United are very close to completing the signing of Liam Delap from Ipswich Town.

“What we’re hearing is that Manchester United are in the driver’s seat to sign him,” Solhekol said.

“A source has gone so far as to tell us that he believes the deal is very close and that the player himself is willing to move to Manchester United.”

“Even though United haven’t had a good season, he still feels like they’re a very big club.”

United are willing to pay the €35 million (approx. 417 million kroner) buyout clause in Delaps’ Ipswich contract.

The club has been in a fierce battle with Chelsea for the striker, but Sky Sports now believe that United have won the match.

Breakthrough season for Delap
Delap has had an unusually strong breakthrough season at Ipswich.

In the Premier League, he has scored 12 goals in just 35 games for a team that was relegated.

He is the son of former Derby, Southampton and Stoke profile Rory Delap, who was known for his legendary long throw-ins.

Delap Jr. started his career in Derby’s youth academy before being signed by Manchester City in 2019.

He was highly valued at City and was loaned out to Stoke, Preston and Hull.

After impressing in the Championship for Hull in the 2023/24 season, he was signed on a permanent basis by Ipswich in the summer of 2024 for €24 million, plus a buy-back clause.
