There were many who were stunned when the halfway retired Jonny Evans returned to Manchester United in 2023 for his second round for the club. First to be part of the injury-hit squad on the training ground, then as part of the match squad – then extension. After 43 appearances, Evans and United thanked him last summer for the company, but the 38-year-old did not leave the club. In as the club’s manager of loaned players, the job he held until the beginning of December, when he resigned to “focus more on his family”. Now Man Utd are waving offers of a new role for Evans.

According to the Manchester Evening News (MEN) are ready to contact Evans for a role in the senior team’s interim coaching staff, while the BBC has information that the ex-player is expected to become part of interim coach Darren Fletcher’s staff for the Burnley game on Wednesday.

Amorim’s former assistants have also left the club, reports MEN. These include Carlos Fernandes, Adelio Candido, Emanuel Ferro, Jorge Vital, and Paulo Barreira. The only member of Amorim’s staff who will remain at Old Trafford is goalkeeper coach Craig Mawson.

Fletcher is not meant to hold the reins after the first few games, we think there will be room for super-substitute Solskjaer. The Norwegian in tandem with Jonny Evans sounds like a good plan.
