Casemiro has surprised all critics who think he is way over the top, with occasional big plays this season under Ruben Amorim this season: Now Amorim is history, Casemiro has a clause in his expiring contract, which could give him an automatic extension – with a whopping £350,000 in weekly wages.

According to The Athletic , 35 starting spots at Casemiro this season will activate an automatic extension with Manchester United. Casemiro’s contract expires in the summer, but that could change completely without the two parties going to the negotiating table.

The English media claims there is an option for further years with the Brazilian’s current salary, if he starts in 35 games during the season. The problem for Casemiro (if he wants to stay and collect more monster wages at Old Trafford), is that Manchester United are out of all competitions outside of the Premier League.

Casemiro has started in 18 games this season, but with the club only having 17 Premier League games left, the midfielder will need to be in the starting eleven in all of them to activate the extension. Not impossible.

Man Utd need to win games for the rest of the season. If Michael Carrick sees Casemiro as invaluable in the starting eleven, this could be interesting to follow.
