Cunha, Mbeumo, Sesko, and finally Senne Lammens, came through the gates at Old Trafford in the summer. A strong handful of reinforcements, but it was another top candidate who slipped. Now it is reported that the United management is aiming to succeed during 2026.

It is, of course, about Carlos Baleba. The Cameroonian international has been a revelation in the Premier League for Brighton last season, and at the age of 21, the defensive midfielder has entered the wish list of several giants. Manchester United went furthest in their offensive for signing, but Brighton management were unwilling to sell Baleba before the start of the season and stuck on a £100 million price tag that made it impossible for United.

According to transfer journalist Romano, United have made plans to secure a Baleba transfer in 2026. This means at the latest in the summer transfer window.

It is said to be Baleba’s clear desire to play for Manchester United, even though they could not offer either the Champions League or other European football, that has given the United management confirmation that the 21-year-old is both the right type of player and with the right attitude to deliver for the Red Devils.
