Earlier in the week, the BBC reported that the trio of Solskjaer, Michael Carrick and Darren Fletcher were considered as a coaching team to lead Man Utd out of the chaos after Ruben Amorim and to a solid end to the season. In recent days, Fletcher has been more than busy serving as head coach against Burnley (2-2) and on Sunday against Brighton (FA Cup), while Solskjaer and Carrick have been announced as top candidates for the job of interim head coach. For Peter Schmeichel, it would have been a dream scenario where the trio takes over the reins together.

“We are Manchester United, and there are not that many Manchester United people left at the club to actually drive it in the direction Manchester United should be being driven in,” said United legend Schmeichel according to Metro.

“I’m pleased that the three [Fletcher, Solskjaer and Carrick] have been mentioned. I mean, it’s a dream, for me, it’s a dream team if they can get all three to be in the rest of the season,” Peter the Great continues.

Which is convinced the recipe for the old club now is to create calm.

-We have been through a period where it has not worked, with big, strong names who have come in with their systems and ideas, and it has not worked. I like the idea that football itself, at least for the next four months, will be run by people who have been there as players, have good qualities as coaches and know what Manchester United should be.”

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, with wingman Carrick and Fletcher on the coaching staff. We agree with Schmeichel: “Dream team!”
