It points to a farewell, but the German goalkeeper proves to be determined to get on his hind legs.

Ter Stegen refuses to leave Barcelona
Marc-André ter Stegen has made it clear that he has no intention of leaving FC Barcelona, despite growing rumours that the club is considering a sale in this transfer window. This was confirmed by journalist Juan Ignacio García-Ochoa, deputy director of MARCA, in the program Despierta San Francisco, where he emphasized that the German goalkeeper envisions nothing more than continuing between the sticks for the Catalan team.

Full confidence in his role
The German international bases his steadfast attitude on the full confidence he has in his position in the team, as well as the support of his immediate environment, who have also made it clear that there will be no transfer this summer. Ter Stegen, who still has three years left on his contract, feels at home in the city, supported by the team and convinced that he will remain the first goalkeeper – despite the club having started talks to strengthen the goalkeeper position with names like Joan García.

“He doesn’t want to move under any circumstances”
The problem for Barcelona is that the situation doesn’t seem easy to solve. Financially, it is unaffordable for the club to terminate the German goalkeeper’s contract, given the financial challenges. And from a sporting point of view, Ter Stegen has no intention of letting go of his place or making a transfer easier.

“If the club wants to sign goalkeepers, they can do it, but he’s not going to move,” García-Ochoa said, reflecting Ter Stegen’s firmness.

Internal conflict for Barcelona
This creates an internal problem, as the sporting management looks for alternatives in the goalkeeper position to renew a key role, but faces resistance from a player who – in addition to being captain – is not willing to budge.

The case of Ter Stegen, far from being solved, seems to be developing into a real headache for Barcelona.
