At the end of March, Marco Rose was fired from RB Leipzig and now a few days later he is relevant for Wolfsburg, who his “old” club beat on Friday in the Bundesliga.
Wolfsburg now have an impressive four-game losing streak, which has led to ever-increasing calls for manager Ralph Hasenhüttl to be sacked.

According to Sport Bild, the 48-year-old coach is high on Wolfsburg’s wish list and is seen as the ideal candidate to replace Ralph Hasenhüttl who has not yet been sacked. German newspapers agree that Hasenhüttl’s future at the club is increasingly uncertain, the discussion is whether they want to wait until the season is over, or just rip off the band-aid and be done with it now.
Ralph Hasenhüttl was hired last spring after he had been unemployed for a long time. The Austrian manager, who has previously led RB Leipzig, was fired from Southampton in November 2022.
Several other names are also linked to the Wolfsburg job:
- Thomas Frank (Brentford)
- Alexander Blessin (FC St. Pauli)
- Jacob Neestrup (FC Copenhagen)
- Lukas Kwasniok (leaving Paderborn after the season)
- Bo Svensson (coach, last at Union Berlin)
Wolfsburg are currently in 12th place in the Bundesliga ahead of Saturday’s game against Mainz.
