Marcus Rashford is up for the challenge of playing his way into Hansi Flick’s Barcelona team in the 2025/26 season.

Barcelona secured a season-long loan deal for the England international from Manchester United, with a £40 million purchase clause until next summer.

The deal is seen as low-risk in Catalonia, despite Barcelona agreeing to cover his substantial wages, but they have the option of opting out of a permanent transfer in 2026.

Rashford came off the bench in Barcelona’s 3-1 win in the friendly against Vissel Kobe and impressed at times, despite limited training time with his new teammates.

Flick will give him more playing time in the upcoming friendlies as he works to find the best way to use him in his champion team.

Rashford’s most likely role will be as an alternate player to Raphinha on the left wing of Barcelona’s attack, but the 27-year-old is flexible when it comes to playing where he is asked to.

Marcus Rashford says about the assignment at Barcelona
“I feel really good, it was a good performance, and it was really fantastic to play for the Barcelona fans. It was also good for my fitness.

“I’m looking forward to the upcoming games. We won today, but it’s important to adapt to the team, get into the rhythm of the game and deliver good football.

“I think Hansi Flick can make me play good football. I want to play where the team needs me and try to score goals and create chances from those positions.

“I will listen to all the information I get from Flick and try to use it in the games to help the team.

– My favorite position? I prefer the left wing, but I can play in different positions. One of my strengths is that I can complement different roles.
