On Sunday, Marcus Rashford will have the chance to add to his tally in Barcelona’s away clash at the Estadio de la Cerámica against Villarreal.

He moved to greener grass in Catalonia and has been in great form in his new surroundings, with seven goals and eleven assists in 23 appearances in all competitions. Rashford has operated on the left and through the middle for Barcelona and looks to be a given for Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the World Cup next summer.
He seems to have a strong relationship with Flick, who has the full support of the board at Barcelona – to the point that the club is ready to break tradition with him. According to a report by BILD, via Goal, Barcelona are preparing “a concrete offer to extend Flick’s stay far beyond his current contract” until 2028.
The club does not usually offer new terms to a manager in the middle of the season and prefers to wait until the end of the season, but is said to be enthusiastic about the work Flick is doing.
Furthermore, they are also extremely happy with how Rashford has performed since signing on loan.
Barcelona have the option to sign Rashford permanently for a fee of £28 million, and according to a report from Mundo Deportivo, the chances of that happening have increased considerably.
They are more likely to sign him than not, although his reaction to Raphinha’s return to playability in the second part of the season will prove to be key.
The newspaper writes: “His candidacy to be signed permanently next summer and become a Barça player has increased, although his performances in the second and decisive part of the season remain to be seen, as well as his reaction to playing less now that Raphinha has fully recovered and returned to his best. In any case, the reality is that he has adapted very well to the club and the team, and there is internal satisfaction with the results of his loan spell in these first months of the season.”
Rashford has enjoyed life on and off the pitch at Barcelona, describing the experience as “amazing” and stating that “the biggest club in Spain is a huge honour”.
Speaking recently about his situation, sporting director Deco told Cadena SER that it is “not the time to make any decision regarding Rashford’s future”, but he stressed that the club is “happy with him” and appreciates seeing the striker “contribute a lot to the team”.
