Marcus Rashford is prepared to return to Manchester United’s pre-season training if a transfer does not materialise.

United’s attacking problems – Rashford could be a major annoyance for manager Ruben Amorim, who would have to bite the bullet.

“The Red Devils” want to renew their failing attack after a disappointing season in front of goal:

  • They finished 5th among the worst attacking teams in the Premier League with only 44 goals in 38 games.
  • Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo were the team’s top scorers with only 8 goals each.
  • Players such as Antony, Alejandro Garnacho and Rashford are candidates for sale.
  • Rashford wants a move to Barcelona so much that he is willing to take a pay cut (currently earning £15.6 million), but a deal has not had time to materialise yet.

According to ESPN, the English striker is now willing to return to training before the club’s trip to the United States.

Manchester United have already signed Matheus Cunha, who is expected to play in one of two attacking midfield roles in Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-3 system.

Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo is another target, but Tottenham Hotspur are also competing for his signature. Even if Mbeumo is signed, United may need a pure striker, as Rasmus Hojlund has not lived up to his high price tag.

Rashford as a solution?

  • Rashford is best on the wing, but also has experience as a striker.
  • He is the only United attacker to have shown consistent productivity (at least 20 goal points in three separate seasons).
  • Amorim could use him as a temporary solution going forward.
  • With two years left on his contract after 2025/26, the club could still get a significant sum for him if he impresses.

Will Rashford stay? Or will Barcelona or another club make an offer? The decision could significantly affect Amorim’s plans.
