Marek Zakrzewski became the first European in 32 years to win the 100 and 200 meters races at one European Athletics Championships under 20. This is pleasing, especially since Zakrzewski is only 17 years old. So you can say that he has a bright future ahead of him.

17-year-old Marek Zakrzewski equaled his achievement with the famous British runner Darren Campbell, who 32 years ago did the same as Zakrzewski now, winning the 100 and 200 meters races at the same European Championships. The Briton was a sprint star at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries. He won an Olympic gold medal in the relay, an Olympic silver medal in the 200 meters and a bronze medal at the World Championships in the 100 meters. Marek Zakrzewski follows in his footsteps, becoming the European Champion under 20 for 100 and 200 meters at one championship.

If the Pole stays in shape, he has a bright future ahead of him, like the legendary Usain Bolt. I am writing this because it was in the style of Usian Bolt that Zakrzewski covered the distance of 200 meters at this year’s European Championships, reaching the finish line with his hands up and the rest of the runners far behind. Zakrzewski won the 200 meters race with a time of 20.63 s – the second best time in the history of Polish junior athletics.
