Star status attracts interest

Cunha has been Wolves’ star player in a season that was still plagued by relegation concerns as recently as March. However, his elegant performances have attracted strong interest from other quarters, despite signing a new contract earlier in the season.

Arsenal have been linked with him, but it is Manchester United who now appear to be the favourites to sign the 25-year-old Cunha, who has a buyout clause of £62.5m in the contract he signed in February.

Committed to Wolves – for now

After the game, however, Cunha was reticent and emphasized his loyalty to his current club
: “We are very committed to this club, all of us, and want to show the fans what we can do. We’re starting to get the points we deserve and show all the work we’ve put in.”

“I always say that I’m always happy to play for this team. Sometimes my emotions get too intense because I love being here.”

Coach recognizes special talent

Head coach Vitor Pereira, who took over from Gary O’Neil earlier in the season, admitted that he cannot predict the future, but acknowledged that Cunha is a “special” player:
“This is like looking into a crystal ball – I don’t have it. I can’t say that he wants to leave. He is with us, committed to us, and we are happy for Him.”

“He’s got a high-quality game, he’s a special player. He is committed, along with his teammates, to helping the club achieve the best we can at the end of the season.”

With Cunha’s impressive stats and growing interest from top clubs, it will be exciting to see if Wolves can keep their star for next season.
