United States boss Mauricio Pochettino has been linked with a potential return to his former club Totteha, as they battle relegation in the Premier League.

Mauricio Pochettino has spoken out, as the pressure continues to mount on current boss Igor Tudor.

Pochettino, who previously led Spurs to the Champions League final in 2019, is currently the head coach of the USMNT, having also coached Espanyol, Southampton, Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea.

The 54-year-old Argentine will undoubtedly be focused on leading the USMNT to a successful tournament in what is largely a US-based competition, although some matches will be played in neighboring Mexico and Canada.

However, as the current Spurs boss, Tudor, has not won a single game since succeeding Thomas Frank as head coach on February 14, Pochettino is among the names being linked with taking over the role should the Croatian be sacked.

Former Juventus coach Tudor has lost all four of his games in charge, with the latest disappointment coming in the form of a 5-2 defeat away to Atletico in the last eight of the Champions League on Tuesday (March 10).

On Wednesday (11 March), the Guardian reported that Tudor, who are under contract until the end of the season, will retain the role for Spurs’ trip to Anfield, where they will face Liverpool on 15 March, before the north London club hosts relegation rivals Nottingham Forest the following week.

Former Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has already ruled himself out of being in the running to replace Tudor, despite previous links to a surprise return earlier this week.

“I’ve been asked a couple of times if I wanted to return to Spurs and it’s probably not going to happen, is it?” said Redknapp.

“Would I return? Of course I would, but I highly doubt that it will happen. My only concern at the moment is The Jukebox Man in the Gold Cup. I have nothing to do with Spurs anymore. They have not made contact, not at all.”

Meanwhile, Pochettino has also spoken out amid the links to a Spurs return and stressed that he is focused on the World Cup with the United States.

Speaking to RNE Audio, Pochettino said: “It’s just rumours. I’m always linked to clubs, like I was with Espanyol back then. People let their emotions get the better of them. We are focused on the World Cup in the United States. My contract expires after the World Cup.”

The United States will start the tournament against Paraguay on June 13.
