Oscar Piastri secured McLaren an impressive double victory at the Spanish Grand Prix at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on Sunday. The Australian took his first win of the year after dominating the race ahead of teammate Lando Norris and Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc.
After two podium finishes in third place earlier in the season, Piastri finally delivered a flawless performance in Barcelona. Even a late safety car period couldn’t stop the McLaren driver, who also secured the fastest lap of the race and the seventh win of his career.

Max Verstappen experienced a frustrating day behind the wheel. The four-time world champion looked set to secure third place, but had to see himself beaten by both Leclerc and George Russell in the closing stages of the race. The Dutchman eventually finished in a disappointing 10th place after incurring a penalty for a collision with Russell.
Nico Hülkenberg impressed with a strong fifth place for Sauber, while Piastri now closes the gap to teammate Norris in the championship battle.
