Diego Amando Maradona. For many fans, no one is going to match the 165-meter-short giant. Tuesday marked the fifth anniversary of the Argentine’s death. Napoli did it the way Maradona himself would have wanted it.
Maradona wore the Napoli shirt 258 games from 1984 to 1991, the Argentine helped win two Italian championships and put Napoli on the map in Italy – and the world.

Tuesday was the fifth anniversary of Maradona’s death, Napoli went on to win 2-0 in the Champions League against Qarabag FK at home. Antonio Conte puts words to the very special day.
“It was a special night for Naples and for the Neapolitans. Maradona represents something that is difficult to explain if you are not from Naples. We wanted to honour this day, which is sad, considering it’s the fifth anniversary of his death, but it was a fantastic energy,” Conte said after the game with the first goal from Scott McTominay.
