Several of Tottenham’s biggest stars are expected to leave the club this summer, regardless of whether there will be survival in the Premier League. The Daily Mail claims Mickey van de Ven is “eager” to move on, several other English media outlets claim the same. Liverpool are in the market for a long-term successor to Virgil van Dijk at left centre-back and have signalled interest in Tottenham’s Dutch fast-paced iron man. A former Liverpool player believes the Dutchman has nevertheless made himself out of the question for the reigning Premier League champions.
Van de Ven has the performance and potential, but has both against Thomas Frank and most recently Igor Tudor shown he lacks respect for the coach.

Van de Ven was recently spotted seemingly ignoring the mid-game tactical instructions from his manager, Igor Tudor, in the heavy loss to Arsenal. It came after Van de Ven was seen dismissing former boss Thomas Frank in the aftermath of a defeat to Chelsea earlier in the season.
Glen Johnson has worn the Liverpool shirt between 2009 and 20015, the 41-year-old believes the Dutchman’s behaviour makes Liverpool reconsider the Tottenham star as a candidate for central defence for the Reds.
“Managers need to know that ability alone is not enough,” Johnson begins, according to the Liverpool Echo.
-Players must be willing to do what their teammates, manager and team demand in matches. It is not good to see anyone publicly disagree with internal decisions, as Micky van de Ven was. Disagreeing in the locker room or on the training ground is fine, as you want the best for everyone, but doing so publicly is a deterrent. It gives the impression that one player is better than the rest. And maybe he is, but that’s not the point. You don’t want to see that,” the former Liverpool player concludes.
