Liverpool and Mohamed Salah are getting “closer” to a deal.
Liverpool are optimistic that they can strike a new deal with Mohamed Salah soon, following further confirmation that the player wants to stay – and that his agent, Ramy Abbas, is now working to resolve the final hurdle standing in the way of a full agreement.
The Egyptian is now just 91 days away from his contract at Anfield officially expiring, which would make him free for any club. After their best season ever, this is a scenario Liverpool, manager Arne Slot and everyone associated with the club eagerly want to avoid.

But reaching an agreement on an extension has proved far from easy, with negotiations going on for months without result.
Although Liverpool are aware that Salah’s priority is to extend – something that was confirmed to our sources already last September – the fact that so many clubs are ready to offer him a higher salary as a free agent has led to long and somewhat difficult negotiations.
Still, there has always been optimism that the 32-year-old will stay and that the parties will find a solution – despite Salah’s repeated statements in the media that this could be his “last season” on Merseyside.
Now there is an update from Football Insider, which reports “very advanced talks”.
They write that “Liverpool are desperate” to keep their star, and that “negotiations are ongoing between the agent and the club”.
Furthermore, it is stated that the Premier League’s top scorer is still “willing to sign a new deal”, but that the delay is due to “the unsatisfactory contract length” that has been proposed.
“Liverpool are wary of giving Salah a long-term deal, as the player will be 33 years old before his current contract expires.”
Still, there is a belief that a lucrative deal could soon be reached as soon as the length is clarified – especially after new evidence about Salah’s personal wealth and lucrative sponsorship deals, which Abbas has negotiated.

- Salah is one of Liverpool’s most important players, with 18+ goals and 10+ assists in 2023/24.
- An extension will provide stability during Arne Slots’ new era.
- If he leaves for free, it will be a big loss for the club – both sportingly and financially.
The negotiations are now in a critical phase, and a solution is expected within the next few weeks.
Nonetheless, both Abbas and Salah have presented a compelling case to secure an extension with the player’s 32 goals and 22 assists already the best result in a single season in his career.
Now, in a study by Harvard Business School, it has been shown that Salah, while currently on a £350,000-a-week deal at Anfield, is actually taking home close to £1 million a week through various bonuses and – most importantly – his various lucrative sponsorship deals.
