It’s easy to kick someone who is down. Wayne Rooney should know all about it, after losing one coaching job, after another after a few months. The criticism against him has been massive, the status of “useless as a coach” has followed him from the so-called experts in the gallery. It is still worth noting Rooney’s statements about his old club Manchester United. Few other players have the experience of what it takes to succeed as a Manchester United player.
Gary Neville is very active during the day on the interview front. First with United boss Ratcliffe, who directly hangs out several of the United players, now with Wayne Rooney about the state of the United squad.
When asked by Neville if Rooney sees any success with the current United squad, there is no optimism to be found in the United icon with 253 goals in the red shirt.
–no. I don’t think so. They look lost, and they seem to be afraid of making mistakes. I’ve seen what Roy [Keane] has said about Bruno, and he can annoy you at times when he throws his arms around [in frustration], but he’s the one who keeps on delivering,” Rooney begins to Neville on Stick to Football.
-They need huge changes in the squad. I know they can’t do it, but I think 10-15 players need to leave the club,” Rooney continued.
Who believes the United players should and must be under more pressure.
-I would keep Bruno, Mainoo… the youngsters, but I think there’s just a culture there now where it’s too easy for them to lose football matches, and then you see them come out again to play the next game.., Rooney concludes.
