Real Madrid is struggling. The results this season have been weak (compared to the standard of the world’s best club). At the same time, Carlo Ancelotti has gone into the games with a severe shortage of injury-free defenders. Too close a race in La Liga with Atletico in front and Bardelona right behind is unsettling, nine points from six Champions League games is frighteningly weak. Now Real are speeding up their search for one of the Premier League’s best centre-backs.

William Saliba has been linked to Real Madrid for the past year. Nothing new there, but with Ancelotti’s injury problems in defence, Saliba signing has moved up as a top priority for the royal club.

The world record for signing a defender is around €90 million for United’s Harry Maguire and City’s Josko Gvardiol, according to Spanish Sport, Real Madrid are now ready to enter into negotiations with Arsenal, which could make William Saliba the world’s most expensive defender at at least €100 million.

The Spanish media claims Real have been in contact with Saliba’s representatives and received positive signals.
