Julian Nagelsmann has been appointed as German national team coach to build die Mannschaft into new glory. This has meant that several established national team stars suddenly found themselves outside the championship squad. Last summer, Nagelsmann’s Germany was eliminated in the quarter-finals of the European Championships – on home soil. Although the narrow loss came against Spain, who later surged to European Championship gold, the Germans were left with a sense of absence of a promised Nagelsmann effect. Nevertheless, the German Football Association extended the 38-year-old’s contract until after Euro 2028. Now comes part two of Nagelsmann’s new Mannschaft. Here there are warnings of very surprising changes.
In an interview with Kicker, Nagelsmann is asked if he can say anything about the selection for the World Cup squad.

-In general, the factor you have the most influence on as a national team coach is the squad selection. It’s all about who fits together. I can already reveal that there will be decisions that will not be met with great understanding. Not from the player, but also not from the wider part of the population,” Nagelsmann begins.
Which already warns established stars that the World Cup must be experienced from the TV screen.
“Maybe it’s a player who is not intended for our starting line-up, who plays regularly and is a key player at his club,” says Julian Nagelsmann without naming names. We guess there are some established stars who are not quite left with the good feeling before the selection.
