When Liverpool, Manchester City, Real Madrid, Arsenal and Bayern Munich aim for the same centre-back, then it becomes “pointed elbows”. The England international can walk out as a free agent this summer, Manchester City have been geared up by the signing win with Antoine Semenyo in place at the Etihad, here it is not expected to secure Guehi.
This summer, Marc Guehi was on his way to Liverpool. The English media took it almost as a matter of course, but at the very end of the transfer window, the door slammed shut at Selhurst Park. Liverpool were also not interested in going even further for the player, who would walk out as a free agent next summer anyway. Since then, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Arsenal and Manchester City have entered the race for the England international’s signature.

On Friday, the hyperactive transfer journalist Romano reports that Manchester City are close to landing a deal with Guehi, where contract offers have been presented. Sky Sports reports City are not interested in waiting until the centre-back walks out as a free agent this summer, they have bids of £30 million to be sent to Crystal Palace.
Even if Oliver Glasner is doing everything he can to keep his captain for the rest of the season, the Palace management can hardly turn down £30 million for the player they will have to let go for free in five months’ time. Especially not if Guehi this time is fully in favor of a direct transfer to one of the world’s biggest clubs in various title battles.
UPDATED: Palace manager Glasner states to Sky Sports that Guehi will not play this weekend due to the transfer process. This has been settled.
