It has been a fantastic spring for Jørgen Strand Larsen, who with immediate success at the beginning of his loan spell in the Premier League lifted his game and in practice saved Wolverhampton’s place.
Transfermarkt, who have put the former Sarpsborg 08 player worth €30 million, reports that Wolverhampton paid Celta Vigo €27.5 million.

Now comes the reward: Jørgen Strand Larsen (25) has committed to Wolverhampton until 2029, according to the club’s official website. The Norwegian striker impressed with 14 Premier League goals in his debut season for “Wolves”, which is actually a record for a newcomer. As the club writes in its justification for four years:
Since scoring in Wolves’ first home game of the 2024/25 season, Strand Larsen has proven to be a key part of Pereira’s machinery and finished the season with the most goals for Wolves by a Premier League debutant in history – breaking Raul Jimenez’s record of 13 goals in 2018/19.
- I’m proud of my development. This time I was able to adapt faster than before. When I’ve moved to new leagues before, it has usually taken longer for the goals to come,” says Strand Larsen.
Loan agreement became permanent
Strand Larsen joined the English club in the summer of 2023 on loan from Spanish side Celta Vigo, with an option for a permanent transfer. This clause has now been used, and the transfer has been made permanent.
Impressive first season
Among the Premier League’s top scorers in the 2024/25 season, Strand Larsen finished tenth, nine places behind top scorer Mohamed Salah (29 goals).
Wolverhampton fought against relegation for a long time, but under a new manager and with Strand Larsen’s constant goal contributions, the team finally secured 16th place with a clear margin to the relegation zone.
- We showed last year that we can beat anyone, and that we are a difficult team to face. That is the standard we must uphold. Next season it is important to build on this foundation, says the Norwegian striker about his future plans.
Expected transition
The news of the permanent transfer does not come unexpectedly. Already at the beginning of May, Strand Larsen’s agent Tore Pedersen confirmed to Viaplay that Wolverhampton had triggered the purchase clause in the loan agreement.
With his impressive first season in England’s top division, Strand Larsen has established himself as an important piece in Wolverhampton’s attacking line, and the club has now secured his services for the long term.
