Manchester United’s Danish striker Rasmus Hojlund will certainly have a club to play for in the autumn. He is on manager Ruben Amorim’s list.

According to reports, Atalanta BC are interested in bringing Hojlund back from Manchester United this summer, while Lazio are also said to be interested in a deal for the international.

Both Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee struggled to make their mark on the team last year, but the latter is reportedly assured of a place in the squad of the 20-time English champions for at least one more season.

Hojlund’s future, however, is far from assured, with Manchester United reportedly willing to sell him at the right price. There is also significant interest from Serie A, according to reports.

Juventus, AC Milan, Inter Milan, Napoli and Roma have all been linked with the striker, but according to Foot Mercato, Atalanta and Lazio are now also in the race for the 22-year-old Dane.

Atalanta and Lazio show interest in Hojlund
Hojlund played for Atalanta in the 2022-23 season, where he scored 10 goals in 34 games for the Italian club – leading to his move to Manchester United in the summer of 2023.

The striker had an impressive first season at Old Trafford with 16 goals in 43 games across all competitions, but he struggled to perform during a difficult 2024-25 season.

Last year, Hojlund scored only four goals in the Premier League, while he impressed most in the Europa League with six goals in the tournament.

Hojlund played the second half of Manchester United’s first friendly against Leeds United on Saturday, and he is now with the team on their trip to the United States, where they arrived on Tuesday.

Hojlund’s future is difficult to predict
Manchester United want to sign a new centre-forward, but the market is difficult, and the club may have to settle for a temporary solution rather than a superstar.

Zirkzee works best as a number 10, while Chido Obi is only 17 years old – so it’s important not to put too much pressure on the young player so early in his career.

Thus, it is not impossible that Højlund will stay, especially if he impresses in the friendly matches. United next play West Ham United this weekend.

At the same time, however, serious bids for Hojlund will be considered, and the strong interest from Serie A means that the Dane’s future is still undecided.
