When someone compares your talent to Pedris, then the possibilities are open. Newcastle are now throwing themselves into the race to sign a Dutch 19-year-old, where the queue already consists of three of the world’s biggest clubs.

According to the Daily Mail, Newcastle have signalled their keen interest in Kees Smit. The Dutch national team coach Ronald Koamen does not hold back on superlatives when describing the super talent, this midfielder has much of the same as Barcelona’s Pedri.

Smit has so far made 50 appearances (4 goals, 6 assists) for Dutch side AZ, but is unlikely to stay in the Eredivisie for long. The English media reports Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Dortmund have all shown their interest in the central midfielder.

A tough game for Newcastle, but if the Dutchman wants to go to the world’s toughest league, it will cost the Premier League club “only” £20 million, reports the English media.
