When rumours suddenly surfaced about a potential Cristiano Ronaldo transfer to Manchester United, the first reaction was: “Especially!”. This was in August 2021. A few weeks later, Ronaldo signed with Man Utd, much to the surprise of United manager Ole Gunnar. So when CR7 is linked to Old Trafford again, we are open to “the impossible”.
Now the situation is different, Ronaldo has passed 41 and made sure to push himself to exit Man Utd in 2022 with his historic TV interview, where he denigrated owners, management, coaches and the facilities.

Although the Glazer family is still the owners, Ratcliffe and his crew have created a new dynamic at Old Trafford. Carrington training ground has become tip-top, state-of-the-art and there will be an investment in the world’s former largest club. The Manchester Evening News last week linked Ronaldo, albeit vaguely, to a potentially spectacular return to Manchester United.
With Ronaldo on strike in the Saudi Arabian league, and what is supposed to be a £44 million buyout clause activated in the summer transfer window, it is a theoretical possibility. If United and Ronaldo are completely on the same wavelength about what is expected and what is to be delivered, then this is a huge opportunity to clean up the history between the icon Ronaldo and Man Utd. So is an unlikely return for Ronaldo to Old Trafford actually possible?

Many United supporters would also welcome him back at Old Trafford, but according to Sky Sports , an emotional return to Manchester is unlikely to happen, as “that option seems to be completely closed”. The media reports that United management “has no interest in bringing Ronaldo back for a third term”.
