Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone is considered to be one of the best coaches in the world. Last season, Sørloth delivered goals in a row for Simeone, this season the Norwegian international striker has strangely enough been relegated to the bench in far too many games. Newcastle is one of the clubs that are ready to take advantage of this opportunity to sign Sørloth, but now Simeone is also reminded of what he has in his Norwegian Viking. No wonder France fears Sørloth.
First for Tuesday’s Champions League match. PSV were brimming with confidence after the 4-1 win at Anfield against Liverpool, and started with an early goal against Atletico. Then Atletico put in the turbo – led by Alexander Sørloth.

With both a goal and an assist in what ended with a 2-3 win for Atletico, “our man” was involved in most things offensively and was the obvious choice for the title of Player of the Match.
“He served an assist, scored a goal, and won every single duel both in the air and along the ground. He was very important tonight, was the reason from UEFA for awarding Sørloth as the best on the pitch.
Diego Simeone did not hold back on the superlatives this time:
“This was Alexander Sørloth’s most complete game. He worked, served, helped us play out from behind, pressured the defenders and ran the way he should. I loved it, a fantastic performance,” the Atletico coach said after the game.
We rewind to the draw of the World Cup groups last week, where the big sporting talking point was the match between the giants Haaland and Mbappe when Norway will face France. French national team coach Didier Deschamps was of course asked about the match in the match between the two Ballon d’Or candidates, but reminded the world that Norway is more than Haaland at the top.
“They are two of the greatest players of their generation. He is their big goalscorer, although they also have Sørloth, who is also good,” Deschamps told TV 2.

We understand that France also fears Sørloth, just ask Diego Simeone.
