At the beginning of June, Spalletti and the Italian national team traveled to Oslo for the World Cup qualifiers against Norway. A match Italy, the football giant Italy, was supposed to bring full points back from. “Out of Nothing” played Norway that we can’t remember having seen for far too long. The Italians were sent to Gardermoen with a 3-0 loss. Not long after the game, Spalletti was finished as national team coach. This week, the football-mad nation was able to recover from the humiliating loss to Solbakken’s men.
Italian national team legend Gennaro Gattuso is at the helm of Italy, and on Friday it was time for the first World Cup qualifier under the temperamental coach. It started tamely against Estonia with 0-0 until halftime. We guess there was a thunderous half-time speech from Gattuso. 45 minutes later, it was 5-0 to Italy.

“I have to thank the guys for their performance. In the first half they only needed to score, but they played a good game. I liked the atmosphere very much. Now the first game is over, and now a new game awaits – a very difficult one. Congratulations to the guys, now we have to focus on the next game. Our goal is to make people happy and bring back the enthusiasm of the Italians,” Gattuso told RAI Sport.

On 16 November, Ståle Solbakken and the Norwegian national team will travel to the San Siro. Gennaro Gattuso intends to send an “enraged horde” out into the match arena and correct Spalletti’s mistake at Ullevål.
