Egil Selvik has turned 27 years old and jumped at the opportunity to play out in the big world when a request came from Serie A club Udinese before Christmas.

There has been a lot of back and forth before the confirmation from Udinese came earlier today.

“Welcome, Egil”

As Udinese writes: The best Norwegian goalkeeper is ready for Serie A and the historic club Udinese! The best Norwegian goalkeeper is ready for Serie A and the historic club Udinese!

Egil, I’m so proud we’ve made this deal happen. Becoming the first Norwegian goalkeeper in Serie A is a historic achievement!
After dominating the Norwegian league for several seasons and drawing interest from everywhere, this opportunity felt right.

Thank you for your loyalty and trust over the past nine years. Looking forward to the next ones.
Happy to share this moment with you and Frida.
I’m confident you’ll thrive in Italy and can’t wait to see what’s ahead.

All the best in this exciting new chapter! 🫶🏽🤝🏽

“Welcome, Egil” (and Frida)

Before Saturday’s tough home meeting at the Bluenergy Stadium against Atalanta, Udinese are in 9th place in Serie A.

There was a great commotion in Haugesund when Egil Selvik, after receiving an offer that would have made him one of the Eliteserien’s highest paid, chose to decline and let his contract expire.

But it was not Udinese that was what Egil Selvik had in mind when he did not extend, to Haugesunds Avis he told before Christmas about talks with a Champions League club.

Selvik has four games for Norway. He was in the starting line-up against both Slovenia and Kazakhstan last autumn.
